Farm Financial Counsellor Alan Broome has warned there are a few key differences between the disaster funding released after the 2011 funds and the latest round of relief.<\/p>\n

South Burnett Regional Council is organising Community Recovery Information Gatherings to explain the changes.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe will be letting primary producers, business owners and residents know of these changes at the information sessions being held throughout the South Burnett,\u201d Mr Broome said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI would encourage anyone who has been affected by the floods to attend the Community Recovery Information Gatherings for more information.<\/p>\n

“This is an ideal opportunity for people to gather information and ask questions about their particular circumstances.\u201d<\/p>\n

South Burnett Regional Council Communities General Manager Eleanor Sharpe said the Community Recovery sub-committee had also arranged for other support organisations to be at the information sessions.<\/p>\n

“Each organisation will have representatives attending to help those affected by the floods by explaining grant and loan options,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere is a range of assistance available and the information sessions are about helping people to obtain the assistance they need as quickly as possible. We want to streamline this process knowing the plight of those affected.\u201d<\/p>\n

The agencies attending the sessions will include the Department of Communities, Centrelink, Centacare, Burnett Inland Economic Development Organisation (BIEDO), BlazeAid, the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) and the Queensland Rural Adjustment Authority (QRAA).<\/p>\n

\u201cThe gatherings are also an opportunity for the communities that were hit hardest by the Australia Day weekend floods to catch up with their neighbours, share stories and enjoy a meal together. All affected and those helping out are welcome,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
