{"id":240702,"date":"2019-07-30T17:15:55","date_gmt":"2019-07-30T07:15:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/?p=240702"},"modified":"2020-07-18T17:04:45","modified_gmt":"2020-07-18T07:04:45","slug":"tolls-unveiled-for-range-crossing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/2019\/07\/30\/tolls-unveiled-for-range-crossing\/","title":{"rendered":"Tolls Unveiled For Range Crossing"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_240714\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-240714\" style=\"width: 740px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/20190730cranley.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-240714\" src=\"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/20190730cranley.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"740\" height=\"460\" srcset=\"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/20190730cranley.jpg 620w, https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/20190730cranley-300x186.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 740px) 100vw, 740px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-240714\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The first three months on the new Second Range Crossing will be toll-free (Photo: Nexus)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>July 30, 2019<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Car drivers will pay $2.30 &#8211; and truckies $22.85 &#8211; to use the new Toowoomba Second Range Crossing when tolls are introduced later this year.<\/p>\n<p>The $1.6 billion bypass will be officially opened on September 8, in time for Toowoomba&#8217;s Carnival of Flowers, but it will free for all users for three months.<\/p>\n<p><strong>When tolls begin, charges will be:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Motorcycles &#8211; $1.15<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Cars &#8211; $2.30<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Light commercial vehicles &#8211; $5.70<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Heavy vehicles &#8211; $22.85<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The toll charges and opening date were released by the State Government on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>The 41km bypass has been jointly funded by the Federal and State governments.<\/p>\n<p>It connects the Warrego Highway in the east with the Gore Highway in the west, bypassing Withcott and the Toowoomba CBD.<\/p>\n<p>Main Roads Minister Mark Bailey said the bypass was a\u00a0significant piece of national infrastructure which would have an incredible impact on the Toowoomba and Darling Downs regions for years to come.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe bypass not only addresses increasing transport demands from the region\u2019s growing population, but will improve freight efficiency, driver safety and relieve pressure on Toowoomba\u2019s roads,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The toll point for the bypass will be located at Cranley, east of the Mort Street Interchange.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>All heavy vehicles will be required to use the TSRC except vehicles with a local destination in Toowoomba, or travelling to, or from, the Warwick area via the New England Highway.<\/p>\n<p>Vehicles with a destination in Toowoomba (ie. to supply goods, services) will be exempt from the mandate.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Buses, motorhomes and motorised caravans over 4.5 tonnes will also be exempt so these vehicles can continue to stop in Toowoomba and contribute to the local economy.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Tolls will be managed by Transurban Queensland, which trades as Linkt (previously known as govia).<\/p>\n<p>Motorists with an existing Linkt account, or an account with another Australian toll provider, will be able to use their current payment arrangement on the Toowoomba Second Range Crossing.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/20190730map2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-240724\" src=\"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/20190730map2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"740\" height=\"524\" srcset=\"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/20190730map2.jpg 640w, https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/20190730map2-300x212.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 740px) 100vw, 740px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Car drivers will pay $2.30 &#8211; and truckies $22.85 &#8211; to use the new Toowoomba Second Range Crossing when tolls are introduced later this year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":20,"featured_media":240714,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":[],"categories":[5,3,36],"tags":[1134],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v19.11 -
