It’s that time of the year … Stanwell, Ergon and Energex are inviting applications for apprenticeships and traineeships at these government-owned enterprises.<\/p>\n

Stanwell will be hosting an information session in Kingaroy next Monday (July 29) for people interested in applying\u00a0for its 2020 Apprenticeship and Traineeship Program, which opened on Monday.<\/p>\n

Tarong Power Station site manager Brad Perry said Tarong power stations will take on four new apprentices and four new trainees in 2020, including a dedicated Indigenous traineeship.<\/p>\n

\u201cStanwell\u2019s Apprentice and Trainee Program is a fantastic opportunity for school leavers and\u00a0mature-aged candidates to gain a trade qualification and build a fulfilling career in the energy and mining industries,\u201d Mr Perry said.<\/p>\n

\u201cAt Stanwell, we have a proud history of supporting skills development across the region and\u00a0creating entry-level employment opportunities in the energy and mining industries.<\/p>\n

\u201cAt Stanwell, we employ a wide range of professionals in areas like engineering, safety, environment, finance, IT, geology and human resources, in addition to more traditional trade-based\u00a0<\/strong>roles and mining operations.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cWe appreciate the opportunity to share what we do and find our apprentices and trainees\u00a0finish the program with a much stronger understanding of the variety of career paths that are available in the industry.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Stanwell information session will be held from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at the\u00a0Kingaroy State High School Assembly Hall and will provide potential applicants with useful information about the roles\u00a0available and the application process.<\/p>\n

Attendees will also\u00a0receive guidance about how to prepare applications.<\/p>\n

There will be\u00a0opportunities to talk to the group training organisation, MRAEL, Stanwell human resources\u00a0staff and site representatives, some of whom previously completed an apprenticeship or\u00a0traineeship with Stanwell.<\/p>\n

Parents, students, teachers and other local applicants are encouraged to attend.<\/p>\n

Applications from indigenous, mature-aged and female applicants are encouraged across all\u00a0disciplines offered.<\/p>\n

Ergon Energy and Energex are looking for nearly 100 of Queensland\u2019s brightest aspiring apprentices, with recruitment under way for the early-2020 intake.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The corporations will have 95 new starters next January and February \u2013 72 in Ergon Energy and 23 in Energex \u2013 including two in Hervey Bay and Maryborough and one each in the Kingaroy and Murgon depots.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese roles represent opportunities for people to earn, learn and work in their own communities, so it\u2019s no surprise that there is always enormous interest from local candidates,\u201d Fraser Burnett area manager Nick Grant said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a win all-round \u2013 local communities benefit from being able to retain local talent, it\u2019s great for apprentices to be able to launch their electricity industry careers closer to home, and there\u2019s that special sense of pride and commitment that comes of living and working in the communities that you serve.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe other dynamic we see is candidates who are excited at the opportunity to relocate to a new location, often in a regional area, and they tend to build very strong connections and lives in these communities.\u201d<\/p>\n

Apprenticeships are available across a range of field and substation disciplines, including electricians, distribution and transmission linespersons, communications technicians and mechanical fitters.<\/p>\n

These roles are in addition to 24 apprentices who will be starting their careers with Energex and Ergon later this month.<\/p>\n
