South Burnett Regional Council will embark on its annual “listening tour” in late September and early October.<\/p>\n

Mayor Keith Campbell said the tour would be the fourth the Council has run.<\/p>\n

It will be held at the same time as in previous years and the timing was not related to the March 2020 Council elections.<\/p>\n

Tour meetings will be held at the same nine venues as last year (ie. Blackbutt, Nanango, Kingaroy, Wondai, Murgon, Kumbia, Proston, Durong and Maidenwell).<\/p>\n

However, this year a tenth meeting will also be held at the Bunya Mountains.<\/p>\n

The Mayor said the tour would provide an opportunity for residents to bring up local issues of concern.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Councillors will provide an update on roads and planned future capital works in each local area where meetings are held.<\/p>\n

Residents will also be given a preview of the Council’s new five-year Economic Development Plan, which is due to be adopted in 2020.<\/p>\n

The Mayor said he believed the meetings would be positive because most road improvements promised on last year’s tour had been or would be delivered by the time the tour began.<\/p>\n

He said he was also keen to talk in general terms about the journey the Council was on.<\/p>\n

“There is a pathway, there is a vision and there is a strategy forward, and we want to share that with our ratepayers,” he told local media. <\/p>\n
