Through at last! Racing on the inflatable obstacle course at last year’s inaugural Murgon Rail Trail Festival<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Sunny skies are predicted for Sunday which will be good news for the organisers of the second annual Murgon Rail Trail Festival and Marathon.<\/p>\n

Last year’s inaugural event was cut short by an unexpected deluge but until then everything had been running (pun intended) very smoothly.<\/p>\n

This year the festival is being held in one place, at the Murgon Sportsground.<\/p>\n

As well as the races (see start times, below), there’ll be plenty of fun activities to explore including market and food stalls (from 8:00am to 2:00pm), a classic car and bike display and an animal farm.<\/p>\n

There’ll also be a jumping castle and face-painting for the kids.<\/p>\n

South Burnett PCYC will be holding a Rainbow Run as a part of the day’s activities.<\/p>\n

This will begin at 9:00am (registrations from 8:30am) at the sportsground before going down to Shultz Crossing then along the Rail Trail towards Lamb Street then back. This is about 3km and colour powder will be thrown at intervals. It’s $5 to run or $10 to run and also have a colour pack to throw.<\/p>\n

A highlight of the festival again will be the giant inflatable obstacle course, “Fun Run Fever”, which will be impossible to miss.<\/strong><\/p>\n

There will be six “waves” of competitors through the course; each wave will start on the hour from 9:00am (registrations from 8:00am).<\/p>\n

Murgon Men’s Shed will also be offering horse and cart rides for $2 per person.<\/p>\n

Live music will start at 9:00am on the main stage, provided by Amber Goldsmith and Ash Williamson.<\/p>\n

The popular billy cart races will be back with racing from 9:00am to 11:00am.<\/p>\n

Sunnynook Farms’ pigs will also be back, racing at 10:00am, 11:00am and noon.<\/p>\n
