ACTU President Michele O&#8217;Neil said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This is the workforce under the Morrison government, less work, less security, lower wages, but bigger profits for employers.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;These stats show what working Australians can already feel.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s getting harder to find work and even when you find it the hours and wages aren&#8217;t enough to live on.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We need systemic change to give working people the power and security they need to win wage rises and better conditions.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Low wage growth is crushing consumer spending which the RBA has repeatedly warned is damaging the economy.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;To get the economy started again we need money in the hands of working people who will spend it at Australian businesses.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The Morrison Government&#8217;s refusal to help working people is stalling the entire economy.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The Morrison Government has no plan to deliver jobs or give workers job security.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>* * *<\/strong><\/h2>\n<figure id=\"attachment_59426\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-59426\" style=\"width: 200px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/20140306-tim-mander-200.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-59426\" src=\"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/20140306-tim-mander-200.jpg\" alt=\"Tim Mander\" width=\"200\" height=\"350\" srcset=\"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/20140306-tim-mander-200.jpg 200w, https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/20140306-tim-mander-200-171x300.jpg 171w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-59426\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Shadow Treasurer Tim Mander<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>While the union movement is blaming the Coalition Federal Government for the worsening unemployment figures, the Queensland LNP Opposition has its sights set firmly on the ALP State Government.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>LNP Deputy Leader and Shadow Treasurer Tim Mander said Queensland now had the second worst unemployment rate in the country.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe job numbers released today are outrageous and shows Labor isn\u2019t working,\u201d Mr Mander said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn June, seasonally adjusted unemployment increased from 6.2 per cent to 6.5 per cent, at the same time Labor dropped new taxes on the Queensland economy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c8200 people lost their jobs in just one month and the unemployment queue is now more than 174,000.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnnastacia Palaszczuk has introduced nine new or higher job-destroying taxes since the last election and business confidence is in freefall.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou can\u2019t trust the Palaszczuk Labor Government to create jobs.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cQueensland still has one of the worst unemployment rates in the country and Annastacia Palaszczuk has no plan to fix it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOnly the LNP has an economic plan to create jobs, build the congestion busting infrastructure a growing state needs and support our regions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLabor thinks they can tax their way to growth.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLNP Leader Deb Frecklington has ruled out introducing any new taxes if elected Premier next year, but Annastacia Palaszczuk can\u2019t give the same guarantee to Queenslanders.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen Labor run out of money, they come after yours.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUnder Labor all you get is higher taxes, more debt, less jobs and less infrastructure.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>* * *<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong>There&#8217;s better news from the Australian Bureau of Statistics&#8217; analysis of the latest figures, with the actual number of people in work rising.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>According to the ABS, nearly two out of three people are participating in the labour market<\/p>\n<p>The trend participation rate increased to 66.0 per cent in June 2019.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Australia&#8217;s participation rate was at 66 per cent in June 2019, which means nearly two of every three people are currently participating in the labour market, &#8221;\u00a0ABS Chief Economist Bruce Hockman said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The participation rate for 15 to 64-year-olds was even higher and closer to four out of every five people..<\/p>\n<p>The trend unemployment rate remained steady at 5.2 per cent from a revised May figure.<\/p>\n<p>In June 2019, trend monthly employment increased by around 26,000 persons. Full-time employment increased by 15,000 persons and part-time employment increased by 11,000 persons respectively.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Over the past year, trend employment increased by 329,000 persons (2.6 per cent) which was above the average annual growth over the past 20 years (2.0 per cent).<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The trend monthly hours worked increased by less than 0.1 per cent in June 2019 and by 2.0 per cent over the past year. This was above the 20 year average year-on-year growth of 1.7 per cent.<\/p>\n<p>The trend monthly underemployment rate remained steady at 8.3 per cent in June, and down 0.2 percentage points over the year. The trend underutilisation rate decreased by 0.4 percentage points over the year.<\/p>\n<p>The trend unemployment rate remained steady in most States and territories, except for Queensland (up 0.1 percentage points) and Western Australia (down 0.1 percentage points).<\/p>\n<p>Over the year, unemployment rates fell in NSW, Victoria, Western Australia and the ACT, and increased in Queensland, South Australia, Tasmania and the Northern Territory.<\/p>\n<p>The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate remained steady at 5.2 per cent in June 2019, while the underemployment rate decreased by 0.4 percentage points to 8.2 per cent.<\/p>\n<p>The seasonally adjusted participation rate remained steady at 66.0 per cent, and the number of persons employed increased by less than 1000 persons.<\/p>\n<p>The net movement of employed in both trend and seasonally adjusted terms is underpinned by around 300,000 people entering and leaving employment in the month.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The ABS has revised the national unemployment figures for May up 0.1 per cent to 5.2 per cent, and has found this increase stayed steady through June, according to new statistics released on Thursday.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":20,"featured_media":277297,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":[],"categories":[5,3],"tags":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v19.11 -
