The State Government has announced disaster mitigation funding of $9.5 million to be shared across 62 projects in regional Queensland.<\/p>\n

Three projects will be supported in the Wide Bay-Burnett area:<\/p>\n

    \n
  • Burnett Mary Regional Group for Natural Resource Management <\/strong>–\u00a0\u00a0Riverbank shoreline rehabilitation in Burnett River<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
      \n
    • Gympie Regional Council <\/strong>–\u00a0\u00a0Gympie region flood modelling and mapping<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
        \n
      • North Burnett Regional Council <\/strong>–\u00a0Ross Crossing bridge approaches and rock protection at Eidsvold<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        The high-priority works are being delivered through Round 1 of the four-round $38 million Queensland Disaster Resilience Fund.<\/p>\n

        They are\u00a0designed to improve the ability of infrastructure to withstand extreme weather events.<\/p>\n

        The resilience projects are in addition to the $100 million Betterment Fund and $14.5 million Water and Sewerage Infrastructure Program already funded under Federal-State Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements.<\/p>\n

        Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said Queensland had\u00a0 just experienced one of the most destructive storm and fire seasons in the State\u2019s history.<\/p>\n

        \u201cThis investment is all about improving safety and better protecting people\u2019s homes and businesses,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

        \u201cImproving our State\u2019s disaster resilience not only protects our communities and our vital infrastructure, it will reduce future restoration costs.”<\/p>\n
