Broad Construction Services, a member of the CIMIC group of companies, has been awarded the contract to construct the new $73.9 million Kingaroy Hospital.<\/p>\n

The decision was announced on Friday by Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk.<\/p>\n

After an open market tender process, seven potential construction companies were short-listed.<\/p>\n

Broad Construction plans to set up a local satellite office throughout the build.<\/p>\n

Construction work is due to begin next month with the project expected to be finalised in 2021.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cWe promised to build a bigger hospital in Kingaroy and that\u2019s exactly what we\u2019re doing. I can\u2019t wait to see construction begin,” Premier Palaszczuk said.<\/p>\n

Health Minister Steven Miles said the redevelopment was a major investment by the State Government.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis project will support approximately 72 full-time equivalent jobs during construction and use as many local sub-contractors where possible,\u201d Mr Miles said.<\/p>\n

Darling Downs Health chairman Mike Horan thanked the Kingaroy Hospital staff for their input into making sure the facility would continue to meet the needs of the ever-growing community.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur staff, both at the Kingaroy Hospital and working in our infrastructure division, are to be commended for their work so far on the project and ensuring that the early construction works have had little bearing on people accessing services at the hospital,\u201d Mr Horan said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe will continue to provide updates as the project meets its milestones,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a community facility and we want to make sure it will continue to meet the growing needs of the South Burnett into the future.\u201d<\/p>\n

The CIMIC Group of companies also includes Leighton, Thiess, UGL and Pacific Partnerships.<\/p>\n
