Blackbutt police station now has three permanent officers following the transfer of a new officer earlier this month.<\/p>\n

Constable Gurbhej “Gary” Sran was welcomed to the station by officer-in-charge Sergeant Andrew McDowell.<\/p>\n

Constable Sran was formerly at Caboolture police station.<\/p>\n

On June 6, Blackbutt police booked a 20-year-old Burpengary man who was detected travelling at 165km\/h in a 100km\/h zone on the D\u2019Aguilar Highway at Gilla.<\/strong><\/p>\n

He was issued an infringement notice for $1218, lost eight demerit points and his vehicle was immobilised for seven days.<\/p>\n

“This speed was not only excessive but very dangerous and a drivers reaction time needed to stop is greatly reduced when travelling at these speeds,” Sgt McDowell said.<\/p>\n

* * *<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Sgt McDowell said\u00a0Blackbutt Police have been regularly receiving complaints of break-and-enters and thefts from rural properties.<\/strong><\/p>\n

He said fuel was being stolen as well as\u00a0items of value which had been stored in the open or within quick and easy access to opportunistic offenders.<\/p>\n

“I urge everyone, be it in a rural or residential setting, to lock up valuables and consider investing in CCTV as an added security measure,” Sgt McDowell said.<\/p>\n
