Year 7 and 8 students at St Mary’s Catholic College began the important task of planning their futures with a special careers day at the school on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Should I become a farmer? A firefighter? Maybe a nurse or a reporter …<\/p>\n

A roster of South Burnett residents shared their experiences in various fields with about 100 students.<\/p>\n

Vanessa Madge, from the Queensland Fire and Emergency Services, spoke about her job while St Mary’s Adopt-a-Cop Senior Constable Todd Armstrong talked about his role as a general policing officer.<\/p>\n

Others who volunteered their time to share their stories included Todd Fieldler (plumbing), Suzanne Mungall (speech pathology), Gayle Lamping (medical science) and Damien Martoo (media).<\/p>\n

There were also talks about medicine, pharmacy, agronomy and banking.<\/p>\n

The students, who were divided into two groups, heard from a total of 16 professionals across the all-day program, and also had plenty of opportunities to ask questions.<\/p>\n
