BIEDO have taken over an unused area next to its office in Gore Street, Murgon, and turned it into “The Platform”.<\/p>\n

This is the new name for Murgon’s former library building, located next to Murgon Town Hall.<\/p>\n

The library moved into more modern premises many years ago, and the building sat vacant until it found a new use as the South Burnett Local Government Association’s Economic Development Office in the late 1990s.<\/p>\n

In\u00a0mid-2015, BIEDO moved there from its former offices in Goomeri.<\/p>\n

CEO Kristy Frahm said the new space would be a place for “business and community to connect, collaborate and grow capacity”.<\/p>\n

“We look forward to utilising ‘The Platform’ to host BIEDO events and activities,” Kristy said.<\/p>\n

“We are so pleased to be able to offer the space for individuals, businesses and community organisations to use as well, at very affordable rates.”<\/p>\n

The new Platform provides a meeting space that can be hired by the half-day or full day by businesses and community groups.<\/p>\n

It can also act as a co-working space and can also be used for meetings, training, workshops and events.<\/p>\n

Half-day hire is $27.50 (0-4 hours) and full-day hire is $49.50 (5-8 hours), while co-working spaces accommodating up to four desks can be hired for $5.50 an hour.<\/p>\n

The venue also includes kitchen access and air-conditioning, and extras like wi-fi and projectors are available on request.<\/p>\n

After-hours use is also available, but requires a refundable $20 key deposit.<\/p>\n

BIEDO have invited the public to drop in and take a look at the facility from 8:00am to 5:00pm on Friday (June 28).<\/p>\n

“The Platform” will then be officially launched at 5:00pm the same night.<\/p>\n
