South Burnett Saints AFL teams will be playing back at home this weekend after spending last weekend on the road.<\/p>\n

An under-strength men’s team travelled to Goondiwindi to take on the Hawks before a home crowd celebrating their Ladies and Sponsors Day.<\/p>\n

It was a long trip home for the South Burnett team after they went down\u00a029.23-197 to 2.4-16.<\/p>\n

Nathan Trace kicked the two goals.<\/p>\n

The women’s team were in action in Toowoomba against University.<\/p>\n

They lost\u00a025.8-158 to 0.3-3.<\/p>\n

This weekend, the women will be playing South Toowoomba at Lyle Vidler Oval from 12:30pm.<\/p>\n

At 2:30pm, the men will take on Highfields at the same venue.<\/p>\n

The Saints have decided to hold a “Saints In Pink” Day to raise funds for breast cancer services.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The fun day, where everyone will be invited to wear as much pink as possible, will coincide with the club’s double header against South Toowoomba on July 20.<\/p>\n

Ex-Kingaroy Bulldogs players are mourning the death of former team mate\u00a0Gary Ruoso who died recently at age 57.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Saints’ president\u00a0Andrew Foley said Gary was\u00a0an integral part of the second emergence of AFL football in the South Burnett in 1988 as well as a tough and uncompromising half back.<\/p>\n

Gary was also well-known in the South Burnett for his work at Tarong Power Station with various companies over the years.<\/p>\n

His funeral will be held at the Centenary Memorial Gardens at 353 Wacol Station Road in Sumner at 12:45pm on Monday, July 1 (service starts at 1:00pm), followed by tea and coffee.<\/p>\n

Mourners are requested to wear or carry something blue at the service (eg. a blue handkerchief).<\/p>\n
