The South Burnett Regional Council’s second quarterly Creative Roundtable will be held at the Blackbutt Art Gallery on Thursday (May 30) between 5:00pm and 7:00pm.<\/p>\n

The Roundtable is a forum for people with an interest in any aspect of the region’s arts.<\/p>\n

Its first meeting was held at the Wondai Regional Art Gallery on February 28.<\/p>\n

Participants at that meeting looked at how local arts groups communicate with one another and the public at large, and possible ways this could be improved.<\/p>\n

The meeting found most of the region’s arts groups operate in ‘silos’ at present, with very little cross-group promotion.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This meant those groups were largely “preaching to the converted” (ie people who had already had contact with a group or an interest in its activities) but had little contact with potential new audiences or members.<\/p>\n

The result was that over the longer term, groups matching this profile would gradually withered away as existing members died, moved away or ceased to be involved.<\/p>\n

The meeting also discussed the Council’s current RADF policy.<\/p>\n

The Roundtable was followed six weeks later by an Arts Meet’n’Greet organised by South Burnett Arts at Wondai to discuss the Roundtable and formulate responses to it.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Meet’n’Greet discussed the need for a South Burnett Arts Policy, the current RADF policy, the need to revive the Nanango Film Festival, and looked at the possibilities for a digital art workshop.<\/p>\n

It is likely the next Roundtable will be held in another town, so Timbertown residents who were unable to make the last meeting are strongly encouraged to attend.<\/p>\n
