Many South Burnett residents woke on Wednesday to the coldest May morning in 17 years.<\/p>\n

Kingaroy airport’s weather station recorded a minimum overnight temperature of -2.4 degrees.<\/p>\n

This was just 0.6 degrees above the coldest May morning recorded in the past 17 years (-3.0 degrees, which was set on May 23, 2002).<\/p>\n

And things will stay much the same heading into the weekend.<\/strong><\/p>\n

According to the Bureau of Meteorology (BOM), the remainder of the week seems likely to remain cold.<\/p>\n

“We had a trough move through on Monday night and into Tuesday,” BOM forecaster Adam Blazak said.<\/p>\n

“This brought cool, dry air into the atmosphere, making our nights very cool.<\/p>\n

“We are also expecting another cool burst to move through tomorrow night, so Friday may be colder again.”<\/p>\n

Other places around the South Burnett were also feeling the cold on Wednesday.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Toowoomba hit an overnight low of -2.6 degrees, Wellcamp Airport -5.6 degrees, Oakey -2.3 degrees and Dalby 0.9 degrees.<\/p>\n

To the north, Gympie saw an overnight low of 2.5 degrees.<\/p>\n
