South Burnett residents who have old paint cans lurking in sheds and garages can recycle them for free on Saturday, June 22.<\/p>\n

Kingaroy paint shop, Crowies Paints, has organised a visit from the Paintback recycling program in the car park at Kingaroy Showgrounds between 7:00am and 4:00pm.<\/p>\n

Local DIY enthusiasts and tradies will be able to dispose of up to 100 litres of paint at no charge, saving them the $8-a-litre fee the South Burnett Regional Council charges to dispose of paint at Kingaroy’s landfill.<\/p>\n

The unwanted paint products will be recycled in a variety of ways.<\/p>\n

Paintback is a not-for-profit organisation which started in 2016 and is funded by a 15c per litre fee now added to selected paints of between one and 20 litres.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Its founding members were Dulux, Haymes, PPG, Resene and The Sherwin-Williams Company.<\/p>\n

In addition to disposing of waste paint products responsibly, Paintback is also committed to researching new ways to repurpose unwanted paint materials.<\/p>\n

Paintback has already established 116 permanent collection sites around Australia, which ensures almost 18 million Australians are no further than 20km from a paint recycling outlet.<\/p>\n

Rural regions like the South Burnett are serviced by “pop up” collection points.<\/p>\n

Kingaroy’s collection point will accept interior and exterior household paints, deck coatings and floor paints, primers, sealers, stains, shellacs, varnishes, wood coatings and undercoats of up to 20 litres.<\/p>\n
