May 23, 2019<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Nanango Race Club will be wrapping up its 2018-19 racing season this weekend with its Autumn Race Meeting.<\/p>\n

Saturday’s meeting will have a “Fab Furs, Pearls and Braces” fashion theme and patrons who dress to it will be able to win prizes in the Moffatdale Ridge Fashions Of the Field competition.<\/p>\n

A special highlight of today’s meeting will be a Battle Of The Bush race (Race 4) which will attract a top field of horses, and an on-course appearance by Peter Moody, an ambassador for the Battle Of The Bush racing competition.<\/p>\n

Another will be the chance to buy $5 raffle tickets where all tickets have a 1-in-1500 chance of winning a $2400 ride-on lawn mower, with all raffle proceeds donated towards building Nanango’s all-inclusive playground.<\/p>\n

A third highlight will be the finals of the race club’s premierships, where leading jockeys, trainers and horses will have one last chance to win trophies for the season.<\/p>\n

Saturday’s meeting will have five races on the card, with Race 1 scheduled to jump at 1:20pm.<\/p>\n

There\u2019ll also fun activities for children in the grounds, and the club\u2019s popular Pink Champagne Bar will be serving up champers and platters all day alongside the race club’s dining room, which will be offering sit-down sandwiches, cakes and snacks.<\/p>\n

People visiting Goomeri for Sunday’s Pumpkin Festival can escape for an afternoon of racing fun by catching a free bus to and from Lee Park.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The bus will depart from Joe’s Grand Hotel at about 11:00am and return after the last race, and seats can be booked by phoning Lesley on (07) 4163-1513.<\/p>\n

For locals, buses will be running to the races from Kingaroy\u2019s Glendon Street Bus Depot at noon, and the rear of Nanango’s Fitzroy Hotel at 12:30pm.<\/p>\n

Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for pensioners (under 15s are free) and gates open at 11:00am.<\/p>\n

Saturday’s meeting is being sponsored by the Cheers Liquor Group, Nanango RSL, the relatives of Garry and Margaret Banks, Nanango’s Heritage Bank and Nanango Vet Surgery.<\/p>\n

The club’s next race meeting will be the Nanango Cup in August, which is always one of Nanango’s biggest meets of the year.<\/p>\n
