Two groups of cyclists paused briefly in Kingaroy on Friday for morning tea, taking a welcome breather on their 660km charity ride to Brisbane.<\/p>\n

The 54 riders – made up of firefighters, police and ambulance paramedics, plus a support crew – are taking part in the annual Bikes For Burns ride, and left Bundaberg on Wednesday morning.<\/p>\n

The riders are accompanied by fire trucks which are shepherding them down the highways.<\/p>\n

They spent their first night on the road at Biggenden, then camped on Thursday night at Goomeri Showgrounds.<\/p>\n

They plan to spend Friday night at Nanango Showgrounds before heading off to Crows Nest.<\/p>\n

The riders are raising money for the Queensland Children’s Hospital in Brisbane, and are hoping to reach at least $65,000 for their efforts.<\/p>\n

The ride is due to finish at the hospital next Tuesday.<\/p>\n

This is the 13th year that the Bike For Burns ride has been held.<\/p>\n

Former Kingaroy resident Jaime Magnussen was among the riders in the second group which rolled into Kingaroy on Friday.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This is Jaime’s second year on the ride.<\/p>\n

The first time, two years ago, she raised an amazing $5000 through her efforts.<\/p>\n

Jaime was greeted in Kingaroy by family members when she stopped at Memorial Park.<\/p>\n
