Pool)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>May 16, 2019<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>South Burnett Regional Council will receive $4.5 million to tackle local projects under the Works For Queensland funding announced in State Parliament on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said 494 Works For Queensland projects in regional Queensland had been approved under Round 3 of the program.<\/p>\n<p>These included projects in the South Burnett, Cherbourg and Gympie council areas.<\/p>\n<p>In February, South Burnett councillors nominated 13 projects for support under Round 3.<\/p>\n<p>They were:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Murgon Swimming Pool:<\/strong>\u00a0$90,000 to replace extension joints and repaint the pool shell<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Wondai Swimming Pool:<\/strong>\u00a0$55,000 to install a new solar system to reduce running costs (a previous system was removed in 2018 when roof sheeting was replaced)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Wondai Swimming Pool:<\/strong>\u00a0$140,000 to replace the pool\u2019s filtration system and pump, and water testing<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Kingaroy Soil Lab:<\/strong>\u00a0$65,000 to install a new dust extraction fan<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Wondai Sportsground:<\/strong>\u00a0$70,000 to replace rotten timber in the grandstand, re-nail the seating and paint the grandstand<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Kingaroy Heritage Museum and VIC:<\/strong>\u00a0$50,000 to design and install new signs at both buildings; put a new centre sign adjacent to the peanut silos; and a new outdoor display at the front entrance<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Durong Hall:<\/strong>\u00a0$15,000 for new fire doors, a landing, alterations to the steps, earthworks, drains and pipework to prevent water ponding under the building<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Gravel Resheeting:<\/strong>\u00a0$2.75 million for various roads in the region<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Murgon CBD:<\/strong>\u00a0$500,000 for CBD footpath replacement<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Drainage Improvements:<\/strong>\u00a0$350,000 for drainage improvements in Brisbane Street, Nanango<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Town Entry Signage:<\/strong>\u00a0$100,000 for town entry signs across the South Burnett<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Apex and Memorial Parks, Kingaroy:<\/strong>\u00a0$300,000 for park softfall safety upgrades<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Maidenwell:<\/strong>\u00a0$15,000 to upgrade the public toilets in Pool Street<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Gympie Regional Council received $6.16 million and\u00a0Cherbourg Aboriginal Shire Council received $1.2 million under Round 3.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Toowoomba Regional Council is not eligible to apply for the program, which is designed to create jobs in regional areas.<\/p>\n<p>All projects must be completed by 2021.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>* * *<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong>South Burnett Regional Council has confirmed that work on a Works For Queensland project will begin on Monday.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This project will upgrade the drainage system at the intersection of Premier Drive and Kingfisher Way in Kingaroy.<\/p>\n<p>The work will include installing a concrete culvert under Kingfisher Way and upgrading the surface drains and private accesses along Premier Drive.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Related
