Saints’ fans had little joy at home at the weekend, with both the men’s and women’s teams going down to University Cougars.<\/p>\n

In the men’s game, the final scoreline was 13.18-96 to 7.5-47 but the gap really only blew out after half-time.<\/p>\n

Saints had a strong second quarter, landing more goals than their more-fancied opponents and held their own in the last quarter.<\/p>\n

It was during the third quarter that the Cougars did the damage, putting on 35 points as they hammered the goal posts.<\/p>\n

Saints’ goalkickers were Jarryd Hill (2), Jordan Brooker (2), Kieran Askin, Braeden Snow and Brenton Noe.<\/p>\n

The women’s game ended with hugs all round even though the scoreline was a bloodbath.<\/p>\n

The final sheet read 19.16-130 to 0.4-4.<\/p>\n

The match will be reprised this weekend with the female Cougars and Saints facing each other again … this time in Toowoomba.<\/p>\n

The game is due to kick off at 12:30pm.<\/p>\n

With only four teams in the competition, the women will be seeing a lot of each other this year …<\/p>\n

The male Saints have a bye this weekend.<\/p>\n

Their next scheduled game is against Warwick in Kingaroy on May 25.<\/p>\n

This will be Saints’ big Heritage Round which will also include a visit by Brownlow Medallist and triple premiership player Jason Akermanis.<\/p>\n

The Saints junior footy program (Roys and Superstars) continues on Friday at 6:00pm at Lyle Vidler Oval.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The program is for boys and girls aged 5 to 8 in who have graduated from an Auskick program.<\/p>\n

It is running on Friday nights until June 28.<\/p>\n

On Sunday, juniors will be in action at Lyle Vidler Oval from 11:00am when\u00a0Darling Downs takes on Wide Bay in an Under 12 representative schools practice game.<\/p>\n
