South Burnett Regional Council will mark national Reconciliation Week with a special flag-raising ceremony in the Glendon Street Forecourt in Kingaroy on May 29.<\/p>\n

The event will begin at 10:30am.<\/p>\n

Mayor Keith Campbell invited the community to attend and take a moment to consider what Reconciliation encompasses.<\/p>\n

\u201cReconciliation Week runs annually from May 27 to June 3 and is a time for us to explore how we can continue to foster respect, trust and positive relationships between the wider Australian community and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples,\u201d Mayor Campbell said.<\/p>\n

The theme of this year\u2019s Reconciliation Week is \u201cGrounded in Truth: Walk Together with Courage\u201d. <\/strong><\/p>\n

The theme recognises that to foster positive race relations, relationships must be grounded in foundations of truth.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe flag-raising ceremony will signify the unity between the many cultures found in the South Burnett,\u201d Mayor Campbell said.<\/p>\n

\u201cEveryone is welcome to attend the flag-raising ceremony as a mark of respect to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people during Reconciliation Week.”<\/p>\n
