A new mobile phone tower is now active at Cinnabar, improving safety for motorists on the Wide Bay Highway and providing better coverage for local residents and businesses.<\/p>\n

Member for Wide Bay Llew O\u2019Brien said funding for the Optus tower came from Round 2 of the Federal Government\u2019s Mobile Black Spot Program.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs a former police officer, I know that mobile phone coverage can save lives in times of emergency,” Mr O\u2019Brien said. <\/p>\n

“This new tower at Cinnabar means locals and people travelling on the Wide Bay Highway will be safer as a result.\u201d <\/p>\n

Mr O\u2019Brien said since 2016, the Mobile Black Spot Program had extended coverage to 13 new sites in Wide Bay, including Glastonbury, Widgee, Woolooga, Tansey and Windera.<\/p>\n

A further four sites are contracted to be active by June 30.<\/p>\n

Guidelines have been released for Round 5 of the successful program.<\/p>\n

Mr O\u2019Brien urged people to let their mobile phone providers know of any coverage concerns so that they would consider applying for the funding.<\/p>\n

Mobile network operators and infrastructure providers have until July 26 to submit their applications.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
