A group formed by the State Government to review Queensland’s Tick Line will be holding three meetings in the South Burnett this week.<\/p>\n

The group’s formation was announced on March 6 by Agriculture Minister Mark Furner as part of the State Government’s review of the Queensland Cattle Tick Line.<\/p>\n

It came after repeated calls from Shadow Agriculture Minister Tony Perrett for a review to be undertaken.<\/p>\n

The group is chaired by Biosecurity Queensland’s general manager of animal and biosecurity welfare, Dr Allison Crook, and includes representatives from the Queensland Dairyfarmers’ Organisation, Australian Livestock and Property Agents, and Animal Health Australia.<\/p>\n

There are also two independent Agforce cattle industry members on the advisory group, representing ticky and tick-free areas.<\/p>\n

The consultation meetings are being hosted by the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries and Biosecurity Queensland.<\/p>\n

Two initial meetings were held with little publicity at Kingaroy and Wondai on May 9.<\/p>\n

Three further meetings will be held in Proston, Durong and Upper Yarraman this week.<\/p>\n

The meetings are open to all South Burnett cattle producers and anyone else with an interest in the Tick Line, and an RSVP is not required.<\/p>\n
