Lent starts this week, which means traditional “mardi gras” (“fat Tuesday”) “carnival” (away with meat) or Pancake Day celebrations around the world.<\/p>\n

These festivals were originally designed to use up rich foods before the Lenten fast.<\/p>\n

In Kingaroy, the Anglican Ladies Guild will be holding its annual Pancake Day celebration from 9:30am on Tuesday at the church hall in Alford Street. Admission is $2 and there’ll be a morning tea, a lucky door prize and a raffle, along with a special prize for the best scarf.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
