A busy year of fundraising will come to an end when Kumbia’s Catholic Church celebrates its centenary on May 18-19.<\/p>\n

Our Lady Of Peace Catholic Church in Kumbia will be the centrepiece of a weekend-long celebration that will see many former parishioners converge on the town.<\/p>\n

Brisbane Archbishop Mark Coleridge will also be paying a visit, along with some of the clergy who have had links with the Kumbia community over the past century.<\/p>\n

They’ll be joined by members of Kingaroy’s parish, who will be forgoing their regular Sunday morning gathering on May 19\u00a0to attend a Mass in Kumbia led by the Archbishop.<\/p>\n

Memorabilia has been prepared for the centenary, including a Parish history.<\/p>\n

The centenary celebrations will include an al fresco two-course dinner with a bar and fire pit on Saturday night.<\/p>\n

And on Sunday, a time capsule will be buried after Mass.<\/p>\n

This will be followed by a relaxed picnic lunch in the gardens featuring sandwiches, wraps and rolls along with juice, tea, coffee and water; cakes and slices; and fruit platters.<\/p>\n

The celebrations cap off a big year of fundraising by parishioners to prepare the Church and grounds for the celebrations.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Their efforts\u00a0included a recent St Patrick’s Day-themed fete, which went ahead despite the rain.<\/p>\n

Tickets to the Saturday Centenary dinner are $25 for adults or $15 for primary school children.<\/p>\n

Tickets for the Sunday picnic lunch are $10 for adults and $5 for primary school children (children under five are free at both events).<\/p>\n
