The State Government has confirmed the make up of the new Racing Queensland board, which will include at least one new face from May 1.<\/p>\n

Well-known company director and Barambah Wines chairman Steve Wilson, AM, will continue in the role of chairman.<\/p>\n

\u201cFive of the seven board members will continue their roles, including Chair Steve Wilson who has shown strong leadership during his three years in the role,” Racing Minister Stirling Hinchliffe said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe board will also include fresh new talent, including corporate and commercial lawyer Jane Seawright, who joins RQ as a non-industry board member.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn coming weeks a new thoroughbred representative will be appointed, as we move to fill a vacancy following the departure of Mark Sowerby.<\/p>\n

\u201cI want to pay tribute to Mark Sowerby and fellow outgoing RQ board member Susannah George for their contributions to Queensland racing.<\/p>\n

\u201cBoth have served RQ well and helped to steer Queensland racing on a path for greater growth and prosperity.\u201d<\/p>\n

Racing Queensland Board appointments (effective from May 1):<\/strong><\/p>\n

  • Steve Wilson AM (Chairperson) for three years;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
      \n
    • Sharon Dawson (Deputy Chairperson) and non-industry member for two years;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
        \n
      • Max Walters OAM (non-industry member) for two years;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
          \n
        • Jane Seawright (non-industry member) for three years;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
            \n
          • Dale Cartwright (greyhound representative) for two years; and<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
              \n
            • Margaret Reynolds (harness representative) for two years.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

              Mr Hinchliffe said Queensland Racing Integrity Commissioner Ross Barnett had also been appointed for a new three-year term, effective July 1.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
