Cr Taylor said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;These plans contain flood risk management measures designed to reduce flood risk in each community.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are now seeking community feedback these measures.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCommunity feedback will be used to guide the development of a final set of floodplain mitigation measures for each community which Council will then consider.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>* * *<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong>In Yarraman, recommendations include:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Flood awareness and preparedness\u00a0be improved via an education program<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Yarraman Memorial Hall evacuation centre be stocked with adequate emergency supplies<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>An early warning system be investigated<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Flood warning signs be installed on the New England Highway<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>A local flood emergency plan be developed<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>It has not recommended:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The construction of a bypass flow or detention basins<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Vegetation clearing or revegetation upstream<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Flood-proofing buildings<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Flood levees<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Voluntary purchase of properties\u00a0or house-raising<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>In Cooyar, recommendations include:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Channel improvements at the McDougall Street crossing<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Flood awareness and preparedness\u00a0be improved via an education program<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Cooyar Memorial Hall\u00a0evacuation centre be stocked with adequate emergency supplies<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Ensure the hall car park can be used for emergency helicopter landings<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>An early warning system be investigated<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>A local flood emergency plan be developed<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Investigate upgrading Gracey Street to improve evacuation routes for Cooyar State School<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Develop a list of properties for prioritised emergency assistance based on the vulnerability of residents<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>It has not recommended:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The construction of a bypass flow or detention basins<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Vegetation clearing or revegetation upstream<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Construction of a flood mitigation dam<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Flood-proofing buildings<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Flood levees<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Setting minimum building structural standards<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Widening creek channels<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Voluntary purchase of properties or house-raising<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>More information about the draft proposals\u00a0can be <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/yoursay.tr.qld.gov.au\/floodplain-risk-management\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">viewed online<\/a><\/strong> or in hard copy at TRC Customer Service Centres.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>* * *<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong>Feedback can be made up until 5:00pm\u00a0on Tuesday, May 14, 2019 by:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">1.
