Have you worked at Meandu Mine at any time over the past 30 years? For Rio Tinto, Thiess or Downer EDI Mining? Or any other contractors on site?<\/p>\n

Then you should rock on down to Memorial Park in Kingaroy during the Wine and Food in the Park Festival (March 9) and catch up with some old mates.<\/p>\n

Laura Langan, from Rio Tinto in Brisbane, is organising a reunion of former Meandu workers to mark 30 years since the mine was opened.<\/p>\n

The reunion will have its own special marquee in the park and there’ll be photo displays from 11:00am to 5:00pm sure to trigger some memories.<\/p>\n

Laura is a former Meandu worker herself. She worked at the mine in HR from 1983 to 1997 before being transferred to other Rio sites.<\/p>\n

At its peak there were about 350 people working at Meandu. Laura has no idea how many are likely to come back to Kingaroy for the reunion, but it could hundreds.<\/p>\n

However she already knows many are coming up from Brisbane, and she expects others to come up from the Hunter Valley and down from Central Queensland.<\/p>\n

The good news is, there is no need to RSVP, just turn up on the day. For more information, contact Laura by email<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n
