The South Burnett Speedway Club is hoping to break its all-time crowd record this weekend when it hosts the IBRP SSA National Modified Sedans title and the Australian Modlites title.<\/p>\n

The club’s attendance record currently stands at 11,000 and was set at a Kings Royal meeting over three days.<\/p>\n

Club officials hope this weekend’s events – raced over Friday and Saturday nights – will beat that number over two days.<\/p>\n

The 2019 Modified Sedan Title has attracted 100 entries, just three short of the biggest field the event has ever drawn.<\/p>\n

The quality of entrants is also very high, boasting 14 Australian champions who have won 16 national titles between them, along with 23 State title holders with a combined 60 titles to their names.<\/p>\n

Gates at the Kingaroy Showgrounds open at 2:00pm on Friday and Saturday with racing starting at 4:00pm.<\/p>\n

Fireworks will be a bonus on Saturday night.<\/p>\n

Drivers are already pouring into Kingaroy ahead of the Titles.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Last year’s Modifieds champion, Cameron Waters, will be heading the line-up.<\/p>\n

In between his speedway commitments, the Victorian drives a Tickford Racing Ford Mustang GT in Supercars but he’s definitely no stranger to speedway.<\/p>\n

His father Chris is a former two-time South Australian Modified Sedan champion, winning titles in 1995 and 1999. He also finished third in the 1999 National Title at Mildura.<\/p>\n

Cameron will be bringing a new car that reportedly performed very well at a private shakedown a few weeks ago.<\/p>\n

There’s also a host of other interstate drivers on the way.<\/p>\n

Chris Hayden is coming from South Australia and Trent Quillerat from Tasmania.<\/p>\n

Three West Australians will also be in the field, all having won State Titles, while Greg Stevenson will be coming up from the ACT.<\/p>\n

There will also be three NSW drivers and 17 from Victoria.<\/p>\n

The rest of the field is dominated by Queensland, with 74 drivers representing the home State.<\/p>\n

In the Modlites, 37 drivers will be lining up for the title.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Local driver Travis Barron is expected to be a crowd favourite.<\/p>\n

Don’t know what a Modlite is? Then head on down to Kingaroy Shoppingworld where Travis’ racer is currently on display.<\/p>\n

The visit to Kingaroy isn’t just about speedway action for the drivers … they’ll also be relaxing on Thursday night with fans at a big calcutta dinner planned at Kingaroy Town Hall.<\/p>\n
