An appeal to help South Burnett residents affected by the Australia Day weekend floods has been launched by the South Burnett Regional Council in conjunction with not-for-profit local community group\u00a0Red Earth Foundation<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The mayoral appeal will feature a week of fundraising events to held in different towns throughout the South Burnett from February 25 in conjunction with CROW-FM.<\/p>\n

There’ll also be information sessions organised by the South Burnett Recovery Team, the umbrella group that has taken charge of local flood recovery efforts.<\/p>\n

Final details are yet to be confirmed but the appeal will include breakfasts hosted by CROW-FM at various locations.<\/p>\n

The funds collected will be distributed to flood-affected people as \u201cSouth Burnett Dollars\u201d to be spent within the South Burnett.<\/p>\n

The appeal held its first fund-raising sausage sizzle in Kingaroy on Friday.<\/p>\n

And it has already been boosted by a donation of more than $600 from Taabinga State School pupils and staff who held a free-dress day on Friday.<\/p>\n

Red Earth is a philanthropic organisation that aims to build the local community’s capacity for self-help by providing funds to address community needs. The group is being auspiced by the Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal (FRRR).<\/p>\n

Donations over $2 are tax deductible.<\/p>\n

They can be made at any South Burnett Regional Council Customer Service Centre or online via the\u00a0(FRRR) website<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

FRRR is hosting a special account for the South Burnett Red Earth Assistance Fund but donors must select the correct appeal from the drop-down list under “FRRR hosted donation accounts (for community groups)”.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n
