The recent Proston Golden Spurs campdraft raised an amazing $43,000 for flood-affected communities in north-western Queensland.<\/p>\n

The organisers of the annual three-day event at Proston Showgrounds decided the beneficiary of this year’s fundraising would be the Sisters Of The North, a Cloncurry-based charity which has been providing support to north-west Queensland landholders and communities affected by the February floods.<\/p>\n

They organised a charity draft as well as an auction to raise funds.<\/p>\n

The Proston Social Committee also helped out, by donating half the money raised from steakburgers sold over the weekend – a total of $1018 –\u00a0 to\u00a0Sisters Of The North.<\/p>\n

It was a big weekend at Proston with upgrades unveiled at the showgrounds, including a new PA system and a wheelchair-accessible grandstand.<\/p>\n

Campers staying at the nearby Proston Golf Course also made use of a new walking trail linking the two facilities.<\/p>\n

The upgrades were made possible from grants from the South Burnett Regional Council, Member for Flynn Ken O’Dowd, Deputy Mayor Kathy Duff, Noel and Helen Young, and support by local businesses.<\/p>\n
