April 24, 2019<\/strong><\/p>\n

A caravan was incinerated during a fire on Chinchilla-Wondai Road at Ballogie on Tuesday afternoon.<\/p>\n

Emergency services were called to the blaze, near Okeden Creek, about 4:30pm.<\/p>\n

A QFES spokesperson said the van was well alight when firefighters arrived, and the flames had spread to nearby grassland.<\/p>\n

Three fire crews – including rural and urban units – attended and had the grass fire contained within 20 minutes.<\/p>\n

However, nothing could be done to save the caravan which was totally destroyed.<\/p>\n

It is believed the fire started after the caravan jack-knifed and overturned.<\/p>\n

Fortunately, the Toyota LandCruiser 4WD which had been towing the van was unhitched before the fire spread.<\/p>\n

After the flames were extinguished, fire crews continued to damp down the area.<\/p>\n

They then worked to clean up the road and finally left the scene just before 6:00pm.<\/p>\n

No one was injured during the incident.<\/p>\n

A rodeo rider was treated by paramedics before being transported to Kingaroy Hospital by ambulance on Sunday night.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The rider was injured when he fell during the annual Maidenwell bull ride.<\/p>\n

A QAS spokesperson said the patient was transported in a stable condition to Kingaroy Hospital.<\/p>\n

* * *<\/strong><\/h2>\n

A 47-year-old Kingaroy man has been charged with being drunk in charge of a vehicle after allegedly blowing 0.174 on Easter Saturday.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Police received information that a man had passed out in a Toyota sedan in Sports Lane.<\/p>\n

He will appear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on May 7.<\/p>\n

* * *<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Detectives have made further arrests following a recent protest at an abattoir at Yangan, near Warwick.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Another eight people have since been charged in relation to this incident.<\/p>\n

All will face one count of entering farming land (trespass).<\/p>\n

They are due to appear in Warwick Magistrates Court on various dates over the next few weeks.<\/p>\n

This brings the total number of people charged in relation to recent animal rights protests at a Milmerran feedlot and the Yangan abattoir to 29.<\/p>\n
