South Burnett nurses hosted local events earlier this month as part of National Advanced Care Planning Week.<\/p>\n

Advanced Care Planning Week (ACP) encourages people to have heartfelt conversations with their families to make their future health care preferences known.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is important that people of all ages, not just the elderly and the sick, make their preferences known,\u201d Nurse Navigator Cancer Care Liz Kerrison said.<\/p>\n

A stall was set up at Kingaroy Shoppingworld\u00a0 on April 3 and April 5.<\/p>\n

It provided the local community with the opportunity to meet with health care professionals across different streams to discuss their future health care options and understand the importance of advanced care planning.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese events were very successful and we would like to thank everyone for their support and contributions,\u201d Ms Kerrison said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe would like to encourage everyone to think about their end-of-life wishes and actively participate in their own advanced care planning.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ms Kerrison thanked the staff involved in the planning for the week including social workers, registered nurses, community health nurses, Aboriginal Liaison officers, breast cancer nurses and nurse navigators.<\/p>\n
