Nanango Show Society president Les Schloss says that “considering everything else that was on”, the 110th Nanango Show at the weekend had been an extremely good day.<\/p>\n

Numbers through the gate were down slightly on last year but Les was still pleased as the show had clashed with the Wondai Sprints and three rodeos around south-east Queensland.<\/p>\n

He said the crowds picked up significantly on Saturday afternoon.<\/p>\n

The evening entertainment went off with a bang, with the midget rollover cars being a special hit with the crowd.<\/p>\n

Harness racing and chainsaw racing also proved popular in the main arena.<\/p>\n

Les said cattle numbers were also down slightly, due to recent weather conditions.<\/p>\n

However, the weather on Saturday was perfect.<\/p>\n

The show was officially opened by Federal Agriculture Minister and Member for Maranoa David Littleproud.<\/strong><\/p>\n

He congratulated the Nanango Show Society, saying they should be proud of what they had created to showcase the community.<\/p>\n

“This doesn’t just happen,” he said.<\/p>\n

“Never take for granted the people that have volunteered to make this show happen.”<\/p>\n

He also congratulated the Showgirls and Rural Ambassador for having the courage to put themselves forward for the roles.<\/p>\n

“You are the next generation of people who will continue the show for this community of Nanango,” he said.<\/p>\n
