A barbecue lunch is being held in the Kingaroy Town Hall Forecourt on Wednesday (April 17) to help raise funds for the\u00a0South Burnett Autism Support Group (SBASG).<\/p>\n

The barbecue, hosted by the Kingaroy Rotary Club, is being organised by council employee Wendy Kruger and will run from 11:30am to 2:00pm.<\/p>\n

“Over the years, I have tried to organise a morning tea during April at the South Burnett Regional Council in support of Autism Awareness month, with all funds raised donated to the South Burnett Autism Support Group (SBASG),” Wendy said.<\/p>\n

“This year I would like to try a different path and I have partnered with the Rotary Club of Kingaroy to host a barbecue lunch.”<\/p>\n

Wendy said Swickers was sponsoring the event which meant 100 per cent of the funds raised on the day would be donated to SBASG.<\/p>\n

“They have kindly donated $500 which will allow me to order and purchase all the food needed,” she said.<\/p>\n

Raffle tickets will also be sold with prizes donated by Kingaroy Plumbing Works, Kingaroy SupaIGA and Kingaroy\u2019s Betta Home Living (Betta Electrical).<\/strong><\/p>\n

“I approached the SBASG to find a project they are keen on to be the focus for this barbecue lunch and they have requested that all funds raised go to their ‘Aspies’ Group,” Wendy said.<\/p>\n

“In mid 2018 SBASG decided that as their children were mostly getting to adulthood, they needed to have some outlet for them and created the ‘Aspies’ Group.<\/p>\n

“The\u00a0aim of this group is to encourage them to be social, be out in the public and to try new things that they wouldn’t normally feel capable of achieving by themselves.<\/p>\n

“This is to build essential skills that they require for their life journey.\u00a0The group is keen\u00a0to supply funds for these events, but have not had the finances to fully subsidise these\u00a0outings.<\/p>\n

“To date the ‘Aspies’ have gone bushwalking at the Bunya Mountains,\u00a0been swimming at the South Burnett Aquatic Centre in Nanango, and ten pin bowling and kart racing in Nanango.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
