Out-of-school-hours care and pre-prep services will end on March 29 … the new service will open at the beginning of Term 2 across the road in the Nanango State School Hall<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

A gap in childcare services in Nanango following the closure of a local provider has been filled thanks to efforts by the Nanango State School and the Queensland Police Citizens Youth Club.<\/p>\n

The current service, offered by South Burnett CTC, will close on Friday (March 29).<\/p>\n

Angry parents, many of whom work full-time, have been agitating since the announcement for a replacement of the out-of-school-hours care service.<\/p>\n

After extensive negotiations, before and after school care will now be offered on site at Nanango State School from next term.<\/p>\n

This follows work by school principal Andrew Cummings, school staff and the Department of Education to navigate “complex issues”.<\/p>\n

Announcing the breakthrough on the school’s Facebook page, Mr Cummings said it was worth noting that neither the school nor the P&C had a responsibility in this area.<\/p>\n

“However I have driven an agenda to ensure we achieve a three-year on site (in our school hall) agreement,” Mr Cummings said.<\/p>\n

“PCYC will also have a heavy community involvement and be supporting our school in various ways.”<\/p>\n

The service will run on the school grounds, not across the road at the former location.<\/p>\n

In a separate arrangement,\u00a0 South Burnett PCYC will be offering vacation care for Nanango children during the upcoming holidays as part of the program they already run at Taabinga State School in Kingaroy.<\/strong><\/p>\n

A bus will pick up children from Nanango and transport them to Kingaroy.<\/p>\n

However, parents will be required to collect their children from Kingaroy.<\/p>\n

The vacation care\u00a0service at Taabinga State School will run from 7:00am to 6:00pm during the Easter holidays.<\/p>\n
