Applicants have just three weeks to submit their case for a grant from the 2019 Ergon-Energex Community Fund.<\/p>\n

Area Manager Nick Grant said the program was offering more than $100,000 to help bring to life the big ideas which will make communities safer, smarter, stronger and better places to be.<\/p>\n

\u201cErgon Energy is particularly keen to see applications from communities hit by natural disasters after devastating floods, bushfires, storms and drought,” Mr Grant said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere are plenty of grassroots groups in those communities who could use a hand and we\u2019d love to hear from them.<\/p>\n

\u201cGrants of up to $5000 are available for individual projects and all successful recipients will then be put before our fellow Queenslanders for a People\u2019s Choice selection, which will see the initiative with the most votes receive another $5000.\u201d<\/p>\n

Eligible projects include those which can be completed within 12 months and which deliver real positives for Queensland communities.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“Last year\u2019s Community Fund helped provide important medical equipment in Western Queensland, promote coding and IT upskilling for school kids, support families in crisis on the Darling Downs, combat food insecurity among Burnett residents, boost disaster resilience in the Boyne Valley, provide safe water during disasters at Woorabinda, and maintain and expand a toy library for Bundaberg kids,\u201d Mr Grant said.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur communities have the ideas which will make a big difference but they sometimes need a helping hand and some extra resources to get them over the line \u2013 that\u2019s where our Community Fund can help.\u201d<\/p>\n

Applications are made online and close on Monday, April 8.<\/p>\n
