Murgon Show Society officials have had a nailbiting week watching the weather but are hopeful they’ll see sunny skies for Saturday’s Murgon Show.<\/p>\n

Officials have been working hard for months to put together a program for the 96th show with something to suit every taste.<\/p>\n

On Friday afternoon, Young Judges and Handlers competitions, a Stockman’s Challenge and a cook-off to find the best local sausages kicked the event off.<\/p>\n

But the fun will begin in earnest when the gates swing open at 7:00am on Saturday for the main day’s activities.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This year’s Show will feature all the traditional favourites.<\/p>\n

Dairy and stud beef cattle judging will take place from 8:00am and will be followed by poultry judging at 9:00am while equestrian events take place in the main ring.<\/p>\n

At 9:00am, the doors will open in the main pavilion to reveal this year’s champions in everything from needlework to woodwork, and culinary skills to fine art.<\/p>\n

Visitors can also look forward to a Ute Muster; Viv’s Animal Farm; Luke’s Reptile Kingdom; Tyrone’s Circus; a Fashion Parade; chainsaw racing; and a rodeo at 6:00pm before the traditional fireworks display about 7:00pm. <\/strong><\/p>\n

There’ll be amusement rides and other activities to keep children amused; food and market stalls; and a bar and canteen for adults.<\/p>\n

The official opening will take place in front of the grandstand at 1:15pm and will be followed by the Grand Parade about 2:00pm.<\/p>\n

Admission to the show is $10 for adults, $8 for concessions, $5 for high school students (under 11s are free) or $25 for a family pass (two adults and two children aged 12 or above).<\/p>\n
