The Murgon Business and Development Association has assured Murgon residents the CCTV camera system installed in the town in 2017 is working perfectly.<\/p>\n

The $369,000 system consists of 54 cameras, including a\u00a0thermal imaging camera and four cameras that can produce a 180-degree view of a 50 metre section of Lamb Street.<\/p>\n

All cameras shoot eight megapixel video that provides crisp, high-definition shots.<\/p>\n

MBDA Vice-President Mark Smith said there had been a lot of discussion about the recent crime spree in Murgon at the association’s meeting on Thursday morning.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“Our association wants to get the message out to the general public that the CCTV cameras are working at full capacity and are streaming crystal clear images to the police station 24\/7,” Mark said.<\/p>\n

The system is monitored from the Shift Supervisor’s desk.<\/p>\n

Mark said some of the cameras had required repairs but these had been completed.<\/p>\n

The February meeting of the MBDA was told\u00a0 some cameras had been damaged maliciously and a hard drive and monitor at Murgon Police Station were faulty and required replacement.<\/p>\n
