RSPCA has put out a desperate call for foster carers who can look after some horses which were recently seized.<\/p>\n

“Horses in appalling condition have recently been seized by RSPCA inspectors and sadly, more are expected next week,” spokesman Michael Beatty said.<\/p>\n

“Eight horses are now at RSPCA Qld\u2019s Wacol shelter and another eight are expected in the next week.”<\/p>\n

RSPCA Chief Inspector Daniel Young said the organisation understood only too well about the drought “but hay, although expensive, is available and it\u2019s an owner\u2019s responsibility to make certain their animals are fed\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf they genuinely can\u2019t afford to keep them then they need to make other arrangements such as a rescue group or agistment,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Shelter Manager Nanda ten Grotenhuis said the RSPCA desperately needed foster carers to take some of the horses.<\/p>\n

“The RSPCA organises feed for all foster carers,” she said.<\/p>\n

“We simply don\u2019t have the space to keep them onsite once they are ready to be rehomed. We also have two beautiful miniature horses that are looking for a home. They were in terrible condition when they came in but they\u2019re in great shape now.\u201d<\/p>\n
