A new mobile phone tower in Maidenwell will offer coverage for the first time to many local residents if they join the Optus network.<\/p>\n

The tower,\u00a0which is co-located on an NBNCo site on Kingaroy-Cooyar Road, offers a 15km coverage around the site.<\/p>\n

Telstra mobile phone coverage in Maidenwell has always been minimal, with low signal strength available in the main street but rapidly dropping off on either side of town.<\/p>\n

The Optus tower has been funded under Round 2 of the Federal Government\u2019s Mobile Black Spot program.<\/p>\n

“This is a great moment for local residents as Optus delivers dedicated mobile coverage to the Maidenwell community for the first time, enabling residents to stay connected with their friends and family through reliable voice and data access,” Optus spokesman Andrew Sheridan said.<\/p>\n

Federal Member for Maranoa, David Littleproud, said he was pleased by Optus\u2019 investment in the region.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cImproved mobile coverage for Maidenwell hands locals more choices in how they live their lives and, ultimately, gives people a great opportunity to not only stay up to speed with education, business, news and contacting loved ones but also calling for help in an emergency,\u201d\u00a0 Mr Littleproud said.<\/p>\n
