The Bureau of Meteorology issued a fire weather warning on Monday afternoon for the Maranoa, Warrego, Darling Downs, Granite Belt and Southeast Coast forecast districts.<\/p>\n

The alert, issued at 1:59pm, said severe fire conditions were forecast to continue for the remainder of Monday and into Tuesday.<\/p>\n

A very hot and dry airmass, combined with moderate southwesterly winds behind a surface trough, have caused locally severe fire dangers across forested areas of the Maranoa and Warrego and Darling Downs districts.<\/p>\n

On Tuesday, the focus of the dry westerly airmass will shift eastwards towards the southeast coast, with locally severe fire dangers forecast through the Darling Downs and Granite Belt and western parts of the Southeast Coast district.<\/p>\n

The trough will progress eastwards during the course of Monday and Tuesday, with northwesterly winds ahead and southwesterly winds behind it.<\/p>\n

Dry lightning is possible with elevated thunderstorms both on Monday afternoon and on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
