Guests at Saturday’s Wine and Food In The Park Festival will discover something new to try this year: Pimm’s.<\/p>\n

The festival’s Kombi Keg will be making its second outing at the Craft Beer Bar but this year it will dispensing the famous mid-strength drink invented in 1823 by James Pimm, as well as craft beer and cider.<\/p>\n

Pimm’s has been extremely popular in the UK for almost 200 years.<\/p>\n

It’s one of the two staple drinks at Wimbledon, the Chelsea Flower Show and the Henley Regatta (the other is champagne).<\/p>\n

Pimm’s is also the standard cocktail at polo matches, and is extremely popular at summer garden parties.<\/p>\n

South Burnett Events treasurer Shaun Bliesner said the festival was introducing Pimm’s this year to provide something new for guests to try.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“While it’s British in origin, we think Pimm’s fits in well with Wine and Food’s outdoor setting,” Shaun said.<\/p>\n

“If it’s a warm day – and so far, the Weather Bureau is forecasting it will be – we think a cool Pimm’s under the trees will appeal to lots of festival-goers.<\/p>\n

“We always like to do new things at Wine and Food, and this is one of several new things we’ll have in the grounds this year.”<\/p>\n

Shaun was quick to stress the main emphasis of the festival was on families, fun and friendship, not alcohol.<\/p>\n

“Naturally, we’ll have great wineries in the grounds and our Rotary bar under a tent, along with our Craft Beer Bar,” he said.<\/p>\n

“But the real emphasis is on eight hours of great music, fun street theatre and the wide range of food stalls in our Gourmet Food Village.<\/p>\n

“Most people come along to kick back, relax with their friends and have the day off in nice surroundings.<\/p>\n

“That’s what Wine and Food in the Park is really all about – having a great day out with friends is something Australians do better than anyone.<\/p>\n

“I think that’s why so many people have fallen in love with it over the past 20 years.”<\/p>\n
