CCTV cameras and swipe cards are being installed as part of a $120,000 security upgrade at Murgon Hospital.<\/p>\n

The upgrade follows an assessment at the hospital, part of an audit of all facilities in the Darling Downs Health region.<\/p>\n

The Murgon project includes 24-hour, seven-day-a-week swipe card access as well as the construction of a separate waiting room with toilets for visitors and the installation of security cameras.<\/p>\n

Director of Nursing Julie Kelly said the upgrades had been welcomed by both staff, patients and their loved ones.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cAn audit was conducted at Murgon to identify any possible gaps in our security that could potentially lead to problems,\u201d Ms Kelly said.<\/p>\n

The project is expected to be completed within four weeks.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are expecting that for one day, access to the hospital\u2019s main entrance may be impacted,\u201d Ms Kelly said.<\/p>\n
