Council plans to hire a diver to fix a faulty valve inside one of Kingaroy’s main water reservoirs<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

South Burnett Regional Council will have to hire a specialist scuba diver to repair a water leak from the main Kingaroy water storage tanks.<\/p>\n

Residents in Reservoir Street have complained to Council that water is being wasted, simply running down the street.<\/p>\n

Speaking on 4SB on Tuesday morning, Mayor Keith Campbell acknowledged the water leak was distressing when the region was in drought.<\/p>\n

However, he said the volume of water being lost was “minimal”.<\/p>\n

“There is a valve fitting of some type (inside the reservoir) so we need a specialist scuba diver who can dive into the tank to repair the problem in there,” Mayor Campbell said.<\/p>\n

“Yes, there is a little bit of water running along Reservoir Street but we need to keep the tank supplied so we can continue to supply water to the residents.”<\/p>\n

Mayor Campbell asked residents to “bear with us” for the next week or so.<\/p>\n

“We have to bring a scuba diver in from, I believe, the Gold Coast to attend to this matter.”<\/p>\n
