Dimities Cafe chef (and well-known Wondai garden lover) Graham Mitchell has come up with a unique way to help flood victims in the Bundaberg area … pot plants.<\/p>\n

The idea is to pot up garden plants which would be transported to Bundaberg in three or four months time.<\/p>\n

An enthusiastic supporter of the project is Wondai resident Kathryn Spencer.<\/p>\n

“Eight bags of potting mix have been used already,” she said today.<\/p>\n

The pot plants will be given to householders whose gardens have been washed away by the floods.<\/p>\n

“Many people would have lost their whole garden, shade houses etc,” she said.<\/p>\n

“If each person gave only one or two plants, we could gather a lot.”<\/p>\n

The plants will be given to a gardening club in Bundaberg for distribution.<\/p>\n

“If anyone in the South Burnett wants to add plants – any sort, flowers, herbs, veggie or fruit – to the load, we’ll find a way to get them there,” Kathryn said.<\/p>\n
