Representatives from AgForce Queensland met recently with\u00a0Regional Biosecurity Coordinator Josh Dyke\u00a0to discuss industry input into the new Regional Biosecurity Strategy which is under development.<\/p>\n

Mr Dyke was appointed in September last year by the Wide Bay Regional Organisation of Councils (WBBROC) following a successful joint funding application\u00a0with the Burnett Mary Regional Group to the Department of Agriculture.<\/p>\n

The two-year program aims to develop a co-ordinated approach to tackling invasive weeds and pest feral animals by the six councils that make up WBBROC, ie. South Burnett, Cherbourg, North Burnett, Gympie, Fraser Coast and Bundaberg.<\/p>\n

AgForce representatives Sarah Due and Marie Vitelli met with Mr Dyke to discuss industry input into the regional strategy.<\/p>\n

The strategy will focus on the highest priority weeds and pest animals across environmental and agricultural production land.<\/p>\n

Priorities include threats from new incursions into the six council areas and strategic management of existing priority pests and weeds.<\/p>\n

The councils will share surveillance mapping and work together to eradicate or contain any new incursions.<\/p>\n
