Concerns Nanango might not be able to field teams in this year’s South Burnett football competition have been allayed.<\/p>\n

Poor attendance at the Annual General Meeting on January 22 meant the Panthers were unable to elect a new executive committee.<\/p>\n

This led spokesperson Jacqui Downie to warn the club’s future was in doubt.<\/p>\n

But a second attempt to hold the AGM on Tuesday night drew a much larger turnout, and a new committee has now been appointed for 2019.<\/p>\n

Jessie Yule has taken over the role of president; Patrick Jumeau, vice-president; and Alex Psarros, secretary.<\/p>\n

The treasurer’s position will be shared by Kristy Douglas and Maxine Evans.<\/p>\n

The election of the new committee will help ensure the club can continue to field men’s and women’s teams in this year’s senior soccer competition, as well as junior teams. <\/strong><\/p>\n

The Panthers are one of the region’s leading soccer sides, taking out the Men’s Division premiership for six of the past seven years, and the Women’s Division for five of the past seven.<\/p>\n

The club expects to host about 100 senior and junior players when it holds its 2019 sign-ups.<\/p>\n

These are expected to be held in late February or early March once Football South Burnett draws up the season’s match schedule.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
