Former AgForce Grains President\u00a0Lyndon Pfeffer died on Friday afternoon from injuries suffered in a truck crash a month ago.<\/p>\n

The 62-year-old Pampas sorghum grower suffered critical injuries in an incident on the Gore Highway, near Millmerran, on December 27.<\/p>\n

Initial investigations indicate about 5:10pm, two trucks travelling south collided as one attempted to turn off the highway.<\/p>\n

A seven-year-old boy from Helidon, who was a passenger in one of the vehicles, died at the scene while his 31-year-old father suffered severe injuries.<\/p>\n

A statement from AgForce on Tuesday expressed condolences to both families.<\/p>\n

AgForce General President Georgie Somerset said Mr Pfeffer’s tireless leadership as Grains Board President from 2005 to 2010 did much to advance the interests of the industry, not just around the State but across the country.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“His dedication and community spirit was demonstrated by the number of community organisations in which he was involved, and the enduring difference he made to the grain sector nationally,” Mrs Somerset said.<\/p>\n

“His leadership of the Grains Industry Council led to the effective structures we currently work within.<\/p>\n

“He contributed to many areas of the grains industry in an understated, thoughtful manner.<\/p>\n

“The agricultural industry and rural communities rely on people stepping into leadership; Lyndon did this in a quiet and effective way and was widely respected for his contribution.<\/p>\n

“He will be deeply missed by his family, his wide circle of friends and the Millmerran community, to which he gave so much of his time.”<\/p>\n

In 2012, Mr Pfeffer was presented with the Jason Rae Memorial Award for Grain Grower of the Year at the Queensland Grain Industry Awards in Toowoomba.<\/p>\n
