The last time Neighbourhood Watch decided to “Turn The Screws On Crime” in the South Burnett, the Kingaroy event proved very popular.<\/p>\n

So they’ve decided to do it again, this time in Murgon as well as Kingaroy.<\/p>\n

The sad fact is that having a number plate stolen can be a real headache … and it’s a crime that can easily be prevented.<\/p>\n

Thieves target number plates for many reasons: to disguise vehicles during petrol drive-offs, during robberies, and in the vain hope that police won\u2019t notice the wrong plates are fixed to an unregistered vehicle.<\/p>\n

The theft always causes a headache for the car owner: new plates have to be bought, insurance companies notified … and then there’s the speed camera fines which can arrive in the mail.<\/p>\n

The way to beat number plate thefts is with special anti-theft screws.<\/strong><\/p>\n

These can be tightened but cannot be removed except with special tools (and no, you can’t buy these tools at your local store!)<\/p>\n

Kumbia Neighbourhood Watch and\u00a0Murgon Neighbourhood Watch are hosting two\u00a0“Turning The Screws On Crime” events soon.<\/p>\n

One-way screws will be fitted to vehicles by Queensland Police and Neighbourhood Watch volunteers.<\/p>\n
