drivers used the December meeting as a warm-up for January&#8217;s Kings Royal weekend<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>December 23, 2018<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The countdown has begun for the huge three nights of speedway racing in Kingaroy known as the Kings Royal.<\/p>\n<p>Kings Royal VII for Modified Sedans will be raced across January 25-27 (Friday to Sunday of the Australia Day weekend).<\/p>\n<p>The Modifieds will be accompanied on the program by Production Sedans, Street Stocks and Junior Sedans:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Friday<\/strong> &#8211;\u00a0Modified Sedans, Production Sedans, Street Stocks<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Saturday<\/strong> &#8211;\u00a0Modified Sedans, Junior Sedans<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Sunday<\/strong> &#8211;\u00a0Modified Sedans, Queens Royal (and fireworks)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Queens Royal, which celebrates the big contribution women have made to the sport of speedway, is for female drivers only and is open to Street Stocks and Production Sedans.<\/p>\n<p>Nominations are now open for women wanting to take part.<\/p>\n<p>The Queens Royal debuted last year during the Kings Royal weekend and was a big success.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\">* * *<\/h2>\n<figure id=\"attachment_226257\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-226257\" style=\"width: 740px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/20181208speedway1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-226257\" src=\"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/20181208speedway1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"740\" height=\"460\" srcset=\"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/20181208speedway1.jpg 620w, https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/20181208speedway1-300x186.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 740px) 100vw, 740px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-226257\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">A grader had to rework the speedway track surface after rain during the December meeting<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>Rain interrupted the December Speedway meeting held in Kingaroy, with the grader having to be brought out after early showers.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The racing was delayed but the rain actually made the track very quick with three lap records being broken on the night:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Lightning Sprints &#8211; Kurt Wilson (12.879 seconds)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Super Sedans &#8211; Darren Kane (13.447 seconds)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Wingless Sprints &#8211; David Eggins (14.801 seconds)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Lockyer Valley driver Jason Rae took the Queensland Title in the Lightning Sprints after just three years racing in the category.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Rae had some luck in the 25-lap final.<\/p>\n<p>Kurt Wilson, who earlier set a lap record in the category, was forced out with mechanical failure in lap 16.<\/p>\n<p>It was back-to-back wins for Rae at Kingaroy, after he took out the A-Main on September 22.<\/p>\n<p>In the Modifieds, Cooroy driver Aidan Raymont again demonstrated why he&#8217;s Queensland champion, relegating reigning Kings Royal &#8220;King&#8221;
